		<description>I&#039;m curious as to locals react to white people in Harlem... I&#039;m a student visiting from the U.K. I didn&#039;t know the larger issue at stake here when I signed up for student dorms in Harlem. However, perceptions of white people as evinced in this post make me feel unwanted- even though in my mind, I&#039;ve done nothing wrong.

Is the answer to Harlem&#039;s problem simply to rid it of all white people through hostility?

For the record, I&#039;ve not suffered no abuse living here, although there were definitely times I felt like I was trespassing simply by walking down a public street.

I feel like victimizing white people just because they are easily associated with gentrification and big business isn&#039;t really fair.</description>
